Back to Normal
We took Scully back to her people on Friday and decided to continue north to the cabin after we dropped her off. Ri, being the eldest, got to be the special dog and go with us, with the others staying at home. Ri did not like being in the back of the X5 with Scully and managed to push cargo out of the way to separate herself from the black bitty on the way to Decatur.
Ri was a little happier once Scully was safely deposited with her people but was unsure about why she was the only dog on the trip. Friday night she kept a close eye on us, but by Saturday, she knew she was IT and even tried to pull an old escape trick she used to use on me when Clark had the duplex over at St. Andrews. Luckily, she didn't get away and was forced to stay on her leash while we were out front of the cabin.
She got to go on a walk up the hill, but I decided to turn around because I didn't want her to overdo it, being a senior citizen and all. She got quite huffy and didn't want to turn around, but we did anyway. That dog has some serious attitude.
The weekend went by quickly and we were back home Sunday night, 4 dogs and 2 humans. Its weird to be back to 4 dogs. To go from having 5 dogs to 4 dogs, then back to 5 dogs, then to 4 dogs, leaves you looking for a dog at dinner time, looking for a dog when its treat time, looking for a dog to leash up. It may be hard to explain, because while 4 seems like a lot of dogs, 5 was complete. Scully helped us get over Mallory being gone, she filled a slot, she didn't replace him. Now she's gone too. There is no filling the spot permanently and no, we aren't adding another dog. Its just a matter of adjustment.
So, thanks Len & Megan for letting us use Scully for a while. We aren't getting another full time dog, there is no replacing any of the dogs, especially Mallory, but Scully provided a good distraction and some comedic relief.

Glad the short dog got some special time!
I know what you mean about the adjustment. Having the fosters has helped us, too. It's good to put out that extra bowl, even if only temporarily.
If you need a great big goofy girl, just let me know. Or, if you are looking for something different, Regap currently has about 40-50 dogs :-(

We are NOT looking! IT's just we now go back to the adjustment period of having 4 dogs. Scully in no way replaced Mallory, but it did give us our 5 back temporarily. I am missing one dog to leash up and walk to work again, and it's just wierd, and sad and all that stuff - One less bowl at feeding time too. We will adjust, we have both agreed numerous times that 5 was a LOT, but it somehow seems that 4 is "not enough" but that's just a testament to how big a hole Mallory left behind.
There's not any plans to go back to 5, but then again, we were closed to newcomers after Joe, and somehow Bonnie managed to squeeze in, so right now, I say NO!, but who knows?

WELL, that's a big reason we don't go down to NSRA anymore. Can't be looking at all those big pleading eyes and thumping tails.

I tried to call Clark to tell him I needed him to road trip up to MI with me to pickup you Foster. There are only two probems. I have no yard, let alone a fenced yard, and if Clark rode with me I get the feeling the dog wouldnt make it past me dropping clark off at his house on my way back to Florida...
