Tough Old Guy

Mallory said to tell everyone thanks for all the good thoughts & well wishes, he's not checking out quite yet.

He has had a great weekend. The pack kicked off the weekend Friday night with roasted marrow bones & of course, he got the biggest, meatiest one. Chloe has been extra needy with the attention that has been focused on Mallory, so she was thrilled to get a real bone as well.

Clark & I worked Saturday afternoon in the back yard, and everydog was glad to be out there helping, Mal included. We purchased 10 40 lb. bags of top soil at HD, as well as 2 bags of grass seed to repair the sink holes that magically appear overnight in the backyard. The bags were wet, so we guesstimate they were more like 60 lbs. bags. No wonder drivers bitch about the loads of soil being heavy when they are wet!

We grilled up some burgers late Saturday night after we got done humping it in the yard and the hounds were thinking we were pretty cool when they saw there was one for each of them. Joe turned 10 Saturday and with Mal's limp going on, seemed like a good idea to treat everybody up with a 3rd meal of the day (they haven't graduated to the Taco Bell 4th Meal)

Sunday was part II of yard work, and Mal was even up for some sunbathing today.

We are taking things one day at a time here and have stayed close to the house to enjoy the time we have with them.

Maybe if we keep grilling up hamburgers, Mallory will get to feeling better. I saw this new book that's on the best seller list called The Promise and there is a women that says she cured her breast cancer by watching comedy movies over 3 months time, that laughter is what did the trick. I think Mal is more into burgers then comedies, so we'll have to keep him munching!

SO happy to read that Mal had a great weekend!! We've been sending all of our good thoughts your direction. Kelsey says to remind Mal that she has some Scooby snacks with his name on them. We are very excited about the good report!!! We love you, Mal!!! (and everyone else too, of course)

Clyde wanted to tell Mal that if he gets tired of burgers (unlikely!), rotisserie chicken minus the skin is pretty good, too!

Glad Mal is feeling good, though. We'll continue to think good thoughts for him here as well!
