Done

We have done it. The cabin project is complete.

If we were to go on one of those before and after shows, I think the audience would go OOOOWWW, AHHHHH at all the improvements that have been made.

Clark & I discovered talents that I didn't know we had (He may have known he had them, but I sure didn't know I could do all the stuff I have done!). We couldn't have done it alone and owe a lot of thanks to all who contributed manuel labor like Fred & Megan & Len, and also to Ashley for taking care of the hounds so many many weekends so we could be gone without worry.

Also thanks to the supporting crew of people who stayed there and told us what needed to be fine tuned. We were looking at adding a light by the front door, when Clark realized the ceiling can we thought needed to be replaced was actually controlled by the light switch at the front door! Betsy, there you go, when you walk in the front door, all you do is flip the switch and now that we have a bulb in the socket, you have light!

We have a few very minor odds and ends to do eventually, but the linens are locked up in the housekeeper's closet and all of our personal stuff to include dog beds, non scratchy linens, spices and the good knives are in some heavy duty locked metal storage cabinets in the basement.

Clark's original plan to build a closet in the basement got axed Saturday morning when we noticed Lowe's had some great cabinets, some assembly required. After looking at the 12 foot sections of sheet rock, I told Clark that he would have to find some men to help him when he was ready to build that closet. My true thinking is that when we are to the point we finish the basement in a few years, the contractor can build the closet! Our storage cabinets are called the Gladiator, by Whirlpool. We got 2 of the short ones with drawers & one tall one. The parts and screws were well-labeled, the only problem Clark had with them was his slack ass assistant letting some of the doors slide while he was trying to fasten them together. We didn't take an actual picture of ours down in the basement, you'll just have to come see them yourself.

I am thankful that we were the first people to do a lot of things in the cabin and here's a brief but not all-inclusive list of 1st's & intersting facts....

I received the 26 page contract to put it on with the rental program today and we'll see what happens with them. We are blocking out our July vacation dates so we will be assured of having somewhere we can afford to stay!!

At least we know there are some things that other people won't be the first to do things there ;-)
