Ode to the Moon
Oh, we had good times together at my favorite corner table upstairs. 25 cent Monday night wings, $1 beers. Extra crispy rojos. Roasted rooster pizza. Then $1 beers disappeared and Sweetwater draft appeared. 25 cent wings went away. But you were still a fun place to go with servers who knew what we liked.
We have overlooked some things, the bathrooms were never anywhere but a place to squat, the old building needed work, but it was "old". Then there was the occassional mouse you would see scamper by. As much food as we ate there, we never got sick and just chalked it up to the age of the building.
They are now closed for dinner except on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, we discovered that after seeing a sign posted in the stairwell of the restaurant, not one on the front door. The waiter said someone must have ripped it down but didn't seem to care.
The last visit to the old Moon put it on the almost-banniated list. When we finally got the waiter away from the tv in the bar, found out they didn't have the 2 beers I would choose to drink. The wings weren't crispy, the celery was inedible, it looked as though it had been frozen and the service was poor. To top it all off, instead of blue cheese dressing, the wings came up with tarter sauce. After telling the waiter, we got tarter sauce twice more instead of blue cheese dressing.
That was our last visit to the Moon. We have not been in a hurry to go back. Since there are few restaurants in town that we actually enjoy, we have been cooking more and eating at home. As a result of this, it seems like we are losing weight. Losing weight with less bike riding. What an amazing concept.
